Welcome to the first episode of CG Unscripted where we share knowledge and tutorials about computer graphics, 3D animation, motion design, character design, visual effects and more to help on the journey of becoming a better artist and animator and create insanely great art, animation and visual effects.
In this first episode, which is divided in two parts, we focus on Cinema 4D and Redshift to create an ornate logo construction (for CG Unscripted). In the first part, we take a look on how to create the logo from scratch in Maxon Cinema 4D and examine topics such as insetting and extruding polygons, creating bevels, using MoGraph to create design elements, creating 3D text, making and extruding splines and other modeling techniques.
In Part Two, we learn how to light and texture the logo with Redshift. It is a great introduction and guide to creating textures in Redshift as well as lighting with HDRIs and IBL. If you want a grounding in texturing fundamentals such as bump maps, normal maps, displacement, ramps, metal and glass, be sure to check it out!
